What is Microneedling?

For skincare concerns, including fine lines, laxity, and other signs of premature aging, microneedling is an effective, minimally-invasive treatment option. Also called collagen induction therapy, microneedling works to heal your skin from beneath the surface for a smoother, healthier complexion.

How does Microneedling work?

Fine needles make minuscule punctures in the skin. This triggers the skin’s natural healing process, helping to create new skin cells that can replace dull, damaged skin cells.

Naturally-occurring collagen in the body decreases as people age, leading to a loss of volume and firmness in the skin. Microneedling combats that issue by stimulating collagen production in the skin. As your skin produces more collagen, your complexion will appear healthier and uniform in tone and texture.

After a treatment, you’ll notice immediate improvement in your skin's appearance. However, as it takes time for collagen and new skin cells to develop, the results will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the best results around three to four weeks after treatment. Results will also continue to improve with each additional session.

I cannot say enough about Dr. Watts and his team through my journey . My results are amazing and he gave me exactly the vision I was looking for. My husband and I had visited three other surgeons before we chose Dr. Watts. I had a tummy tuck, breast lift and implants with minor lipo. I traveled all the way to Miami to see a surgeon before Dr. Watts and the experience was horrible. I felt like I was just another number and yes it was cheaper but I did not feel comfortable with the quality of care . Ladies choose Dr. Watts you will not be disappointed best results and personal care . Thank you Dr. Watts - Tanya Houser

About Us
How much does microneedling cost?

During your consultation, we will perform a skin analysis and develop your custom treatment plan. We will then discuss your treatment costs and what to expect during the procedure. Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa often offers specials on treatment packages, so be sure to ask about our current deals during your consultation.

What exactly is microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive procedure to improve the health of your skin. Collagen helps keep your skin supple, smooth, and firm. Eventually, your natural stores of collagen are depleted, and your skin becomes thin and less elastic. Microneedling creates small skin wounds. These micro-injuries cause your skin to increase its collagen production and generate new skin cell growth. Once healed, your complexion appears brighter, firmer, and healthier.

Can I combine other treatments with microneedling?

During microneedling, channels are made that help other treatments penetrate the deeper layers. This is why microneedling is commonly done with other skin treatments, such as vitamin-rich serums or PRP (platelet-rich plasma). During your consultation, we can discuss what treatments can help enhance your microneedling and which would most benefit your skin.

How many treatments are recommended for optimal results?

Most patients need 3 – 6 microneedling treatments to see optimal results. Although, how many treatments you need will vary based on your skin's condition and your goals. Microneedling can be safely performed every 4 – 6 weeks as needed. During your initial consultation, we can estimate the number of treatments you need based on your skin and goals. When you have reached your goal, getting touch-up therapies twice a year is recommended.

Is microneedling safe for everyone?

For the most part, microneedling is appropriate for all skin tones and types. Skin injuries created by microneedling are so minor there are rarely side effects after the treatment. Microneedling can be performed on most areas of skin, including the face, arms, neck, chest, and legs. Microneedling is not recommended if you've taken Accutane recently, plus if you have an active skin infection, herpes simplex, or open wound. In addition, you might not be a candidate for microneedling if you're pregnant, nursing, or getting radiation treatments.
