About Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty is a procedure designed to improve the appearance or function of drooping eyelids. It may also be called an eye lift and can be used to address multiple eye-related concerns. If you’re experiencing signs of aging around the eyes or reduced vision from drooping eyelids, blepharoplasty could work for you.

What does Blepharoplasty involve?

In the natural aging process, our eyelids become less elastic. This loss of flexibility in the skin leads to sagging or stretching, and fat can build up around the eyelids. These symptoms of aging make the eyes appear less lively and alert.

Eye lift surgery can rectify natural signs of aging around the eyes. This procedure removes excess skin, fat, or tissue from the upper or lower eyelids. We repositioned the remaining tissue and secured it into place. Your doctor will determine the amount of tissue to remove and the new positioning of your eyelids according to your cosmetic goals.

This may impact the upper lids, lower lids, or both. When the upper lids get fixed, we make an incision at the upper eyelid crease. When fixing the lower lids, we make an incision right underneath the lower lash line. After the tissue around the eyes has been repositioned or removed, your doctor will close the incisions with small sutures.

It’s been a year since my face lift and eyelid surgery, and I’m still ecstatic with my results! I’m 65 years old, and didn’t think it was possible to look younger than I did 5 years ago. I see old pictures and can’t believe the difference it’s made! Dr. Watt is a master at his profession, and has assembled a team that is highly skilled and compassionate. He has an eye for making just the right amount of adjustment to make it look natural and relaxed. His communication with me before & after gave me great peace of mind. I couldn’t believe there was absolutely no pain after surgery!  I’ve also had several skin treatments & filler through his office that added tremendously to the final results --- Meghan, Tori, Melina and Yolanda were all fantastic! The office staff is always welcoming & prompt, and make the entire experience truly enjoyable. I would obviously highly recommend Dr. Watt and his team!

About Us
Will I have scars from blepharoplasty?

Eyelid surgery, whether upper or lower, generally does not cause visible scarring. This is because the surgeon takes great care to ensure that the incisions are made within the natural lines and folds of the eyes. Once the surgical healing has passed, the incisions will not be noticeable even to the naked eye.

Will I have better eyesight after blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty not only corrects a cosmetic issue but a functional one as well. Many patients with excess hanging skin on their upper eyelid are able to regain normal vision after surgery. For many, simply applying makeup without maneuvering around the excess skin is refreshing in and of itself.

Can blepharoplasty treat wrinkles and crow's feet?

Crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles are better treated with procedures such as a facelift, browlift, or cheek lift, as the results of the eyelid surgery are confined to the eyelids only. Eyelid surgery can also be combined with a nonsurgical procedure such as BOTOX®, which combats wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes. An injectable filler can also be effective because it adds volume to hollow areas for a smoother appearance.
