Many factors can cause the breasts to sag or droop downward, whether it's because of natural aging, childbirth, or weight loss. Breast lift surgery can restore the shape and perkiness of the breasts to a more youthful, attractive appearance. This advanced procedure at Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa can address the following issues:
- Drooping breasts that point downward instead of forward
- Loss of fullness in the upper portion of the breast
- Sagging nipples that fall below the crease of the breast
- A widening gap between the two breasts
- Excess skin and stretch marks on the breasts
What Is A Breast Lift?
A surgical breast lift is a cosmetic treatment that redefines the breasts by reducing excess skin and tightening the remaining tissue to produce a more youthful and healthier look. This life-changing surgery is for women who have lost breast firmness, size, and shape and have breast sagging due to aging and gravity, as well as weight loss or pregnancy. Dr. Tony Watt, a plastic surgeon in Tampa, FL, offers this surgery at Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa. By implementing the most advanced methods, Dr. Watt can choose the appropriate technique according to the degree of sag present while keeping the desired aesthetic goal in mind.
Ideal Candidates
You may come to Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa believing you are a candidate for breast augmentation using implants; however, after a physical exam, you may discover that breast lift surgery is what you really need. The reason is due to the amount of sagging that is shown. Breasts and nipples point down generally need a breast lift to reduce skin irregularities and bring the breasts to a higher position. If you have nipples that droop downward and your breasts sag significantly below the creaseline, a cosmetic lift can dramatically help their appearance. If you are contemplating a breast lift, you need to be physically healthy and at a good weight.
How Is A Breast Lift Performed?
A breast lift takes about 2 – 4 hours, and the patient is under general anesthesia. This procedure's duration depends on the nature of the breast sag. The surgical technique used for cosmetic breast lift surgery generally falls under two categories based on the location and the type of incision. The preferred types are the anchor technique (inverted-T) and vertical incisions. The incision excises wrinkly, loose skin along with fat and tissue that is not wanted. The skin left behind is then tightened, and the breasts get lifted to look healthy and younger. In most situations, we decrease the size and shape of the areola to match the new placement and shape of the breast. If this was agreed upon with Dr. Watt before surgery, implants are placed in the breast. If a breast lift is the only procedure performed and if breast fullness and shape are a worry, we can do silicone or saline implants later.
What to Expect After A Breast Lift
The overall recovery period for a breast lift surgery is more extensive than a surgery with implants only. After surgery, you will wear a medical compression bra to minimize swelling. A thin tube will also be placed near the location of the incision to assist with excess drainage that can sometimes occur after a surgery of this nature. The post-surgical swelling will decrease within several days. Dr. Tony Watt or a member of the Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa team will provide in-depth, at-home incision care instructions to assist your healing process. Aesthetic results after a breast lift surgery are most noticeable after several months as the breasts take their new placement on your chest wall. Your breasts will look and feel natural, and you will feel younger and more healthy.
Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa Reviews
My experience was beyond exceptional!! I had my procedures back to back. First was 360 lipo with recovery of 2 months then a mommy makeover- breast lift without implants and tummy tuck. From the first consultation to my very last follow up appointment, the team at Watt Plastic Surgery Center always went above and beyond. Being a nurse, I was looking for certain things from my surgeon and team. I did my research and read reviews but it wasn’t until I met Dr. Watt in person, that I knew this was my surgeon. My husband questioned my decision, only because I had only had one other consultation prior to going to Watts Plastic Surgery. Dr. Watt was so down to earth, easy to talk to about what I wanted and my anxieties. He gave his honest opinions on what would look best, and how he was going to accomplish that look while satisfying all my wants. Any anxiety I was experiencing was resolved with reassurance by the team, how they spoke highly of each other’s skill sets and their willingness to address all my concerns with complete honesty. The call the night before and the evening call after surgery are just a few extra details that makes Dr. Watt #1. I can not express how pleased I am with my results. Thank you!
I cannot say enough good things about Dr.Watt and all of the amazing ladies that work at his practice. My first procedure was back in August (lipo 360) and my second a little less than a week ago (Mommy Makeover with Breast Lift, internal bra and reverse tuck). Both planned for over a year and intentionally done on seperate dates. From my consultation, to pre-op and then surgery day it has been such a warming experience. Every single person at Dr.Watts makes you feel so great about yourself during times when you may not feel that way about yourself. I would reccomend Dr. Watt and his team 1000 times over again. The results are already life changing and I can’t thank Dr.Watt and his amazing team of ladies enough! <3
Dr. Watt and his team are amazing! I’m post op day 2 from a breast Aug and breast lift with internal bra. I feel Great! His team is very professional, I received a phone call from Dr. Watt, the anesthesiologist, and a member of his office staff the day before my surgery to answer any questions or concerns I had. My results look exactly like the inspiration pics I showed him. The day of surgery was the most painful but as soon as I got home and took some of the meds he prescribed, I was comfortable. Again this is day 2 and I feel great just sore. 10\10 recommend!

About UsBreast Lift FAQs
How much does a breast lift cost?
In your initial consultation, Dr. Watt will listen to your wants and aesthetic goals before developing your personal treatment plan. Following that, he can estimate your costs. When done well, a breast lift can significantly enhance your appearance, so it's important to concentrate on having an experienced surgeon with extensive training, like Dr. Watt, rather than prices. To help make surgery affordable, Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa can help you find low-interest financing.
Do I need a breast lift or breast implants?
Whether you should get a breast lift, an augmentation with implants, or both will depend on your specific concerns and goals. Oftentimes, a breast lift will enhance the form and fullness of your breasts with no need for implants. Dr. Watt will evaluate your physical condition and listen to your goals at your consultation, then decide whether you would benefit from a lift, implants, or an augmentation with a lift.
Will my nipples be moved?
Typically, the nipple-areola complex will be shifted up during the breast lift. If your areolas are overly large or stretched, then Dr. Watt can include an areola reduction in your surgery. This may be discussed during your consultation so he can decide on the best incision pattern to use in your breast lift.
How long will my results last?
With proper care following surgery, your results should last for several years. Your breasts will still age normally, which means you might begin to see loose and sagging skin in time. Factors like significant weight loss or gain can change your results, so it is best to maintain a steady weight after your breast lift. Pregnancy or breastfeeding after a breast lift may also alter your results, which is why Dr. Watt recommends patients wait until they are done having children to get a breast lift.
Can a breast lift fix asymmetry?
A lift can improve asymmetry in your breasts if they're different in size, firmness, or level of sagging. Dr. Watt will assess the appearance and condition of your breasts in your consultation and talk about how a breast lift will be able to help you. In your lift, he will adjust the tissue so your breasts are equal in position and size for symmetry.
