BREAST IMPLANT EXCHANGE

While breast implants do not have a specific expiration dBreast Implant Exchangeate, both silicone and saline breast implants have different lifetimes. Saline implants tend to last between ten and twenty years. However, there are cases in which implants may rupture before that time.

Generally, saline implants will eventually have a tear in the lining that causes the saline to leak and the implant to deflate. When this happens, the saline is absorbed by the body and does no harm. You will notice that specific breast looks deflated.

ALLERGAN’S IMPLANT EXCHANGE WARRANTY

The Allergan warranty for breast implants includes coverage for the loss of shell integrity for the implant. If an implant deflates or ruptures, the implant can be exchanged for up to 10 years after the original placement.

Additionally, Allergan offers coverage for capsular contracture rated at Baker Grade III/IV with breast implant exchange for the same period of time.

Anyone who opts to have Allergan implants from their Natrelle line will be automatically covered starting at the time of their procedure. Allergan even offers the option to choose any Natrelle implant of the same or similar size if a breast implant exchange is needed during the 10 year period.

SIENTRA’S IMPLANT EXCHANGE WARRANTY

Here’s a breakdown of the 20-year warranty from Sientra:

Lifetime exchange for ruptured implants
20-year coverage of up to $5,000 on uncovered fees and costs due to implant rupture, up to $7,500 due to BIA-ALCL
20-year free implant exchange for complications of capsular contracture (Baker Grade III/IV), late forming seroma, double capsule, and BIA-ALCL
2-year coverage of up to $2,000 on uncovered fees and costs due to capsular contracture (Baker Grade III/IV), late forming seroma, and double capsule.
