For women and men alike, sagging skin and unwanted fat surrounding the abdomen can be frustrating and challenging despite attempts to lose it. Pregnancy, weight loss, and aging are the primary reasons why someone may not be able to attain a tighter and slimmer tummy. At Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa, various versions of the traditional "tummy tuck" procedure are available to provide a customized approach to your body goals:

Abdominoplasty: An abdominoplasty is a body contouring procedure that redefines the stomach area, achieving amazing results for patients. This procedure is ideal for patients with concerns at their lower stomach.

Reverse Tuck: Reverse tummy tucks address similar concerns as traditional abdominoplasty procedures. However, reverse tummy tucks are ideal for patients whose main concern is at the top of the abdominal muscles, or the fatty tissue deposits directly below the chest.

Mini Tuck: Even patients with little excess skin and fat may be interested in achieving a slimmer profile and waistline. Mini tummy tucks provide the same procedure as traditional tummy tucks, but with smaller incisions and fat/skin removal involved and therefore, quicker recovery time.

Our Tampa, FL plastic surgeon Dr. Tony Watt performs abdominoplasty based on the patient's needs. This cosmetic treatment at Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa gives individuals a new, youthful shape and restored confidence. Is A Tummy Tuck Right for Me?

Abdominoplasty can be performed on both men and women. If you have loose skin and excess fat in the lower or upper abdominal region, a version of this cosmetic surgery can help create a slimming and toned appearance. Dr. Watt advises you to be at a normal weight before undergoing this treatment. Abdominoplasty is not a substitute for weight loss, as it surgically corrects loose skin. A form of liposuction is usually implemented during surgery to target fat. If your abdomen has good skin laxity, but you still are not satisfied with the appearance of your midsection even on a healthy diet, another option can be a more focused liposuction procedure. Women considering this treatment should be past pregnancy to ensure their results are not compromised.

Body contouring of the abdomen is performed using general anesthesia. There are several methods that come into consideration when the surgery is performed by Dr. Watt, which is applied to the individual's needs. To start, the incision type is chosen based on the amount of excess skin. Some patients with severe sagging skin in their lower belly may require a full tummy tuck. This abdominoplasty technique places the incision from hip bone to hip bone, just above the pubic region. Some individuals with minimal skin laxity may be better suited for a less invasive technique called reverse a mini tummy tuck. These patients still benefit from an abdominoplasty but will simply receive a less expansive scar. Patients who carry excess fat and skin in their upper abdominal region may opt for a reverse tummy tuck, where incisions are made under the pectoral region to remove fat higher up on the trunk. Regardless of the nature of the surgery, all tummy tuck procedures at Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa involve the excision of sagging skin and liposuction.

What Can I Expect After A Tummy Tuck?

When abdominoplasty surgery is completed, you will be carefully examined and sent home wearing a compression garment to help control swelling. Walking and standing will be difficult at first, so you should take it easy for a few days. Standing becomes less painful once the abdominal muscles adjust and the incision heals. You can generally resume a normal routine around two weeks after your procedure. Exercise can begin later, closer to two months or earlier if you are cleared by Dr. Watt. The stomach will feel tight and uncomfortable, but you will look and feel normal again once healed.

My experience was beyond exceptional!! I had my procedures back to back. First was 360 lipo with recovery of 2 months then a mommy makeover- breast lift without implants and tummy tuck. From the first consultation to my very last follow up appointment, the team at Watt Plastic Surgery Center always went above and beyond. Being a nurse, I was looking for certain things from my surgeon and team. I did my research and read reviews but it wasn’t until I met Dr. Watt in person, that I knew this was my surgeon. My husband questioned my decision, only because I had only had one other consultation prior to going to Watts Plastic Surgery. Dr. Watt was so down to earth, easy to talk to about what I wanted and my anxieties. He gave his honest opinions on what would look best, and how he was going to accomplish that look while satisfying all my wants. Any anxiety I was experiencing was resolved with reassurance by the team, how they spoke highly of each other’s skill sets and their willingness to address all my concerns with complete honesty. The call the night before and the evening call after surgery are just a few extra details that makes Dr. Watt #1. I can not express how pleased I am with my results. Thank you!

I am 4 weeks post op from a full tummy tuck, gummy implants and Dr Watts mesh lift. I fell in love with my new body the day after surgery and it keeps getting better every week! I could not be more happy with absolutely everything about Dr Watt, his staff, and my results. Dr Watt is a medical genius! He listened to everything I said and gave me exactly what I wanted-but better than I could have imagined. His nurses and staff are sweet, helpful, and really know what they’re doing as well. I had very minor pain and only a little discomfort. At week four weeks post op I feel amazing!! I would definitely recommend Dr Watt to anyone who is thinking about cosmetic surgery. He is the best!!

About Us
How much does a tummy tuck cost?

During your consultation, Dr. Watt will develop your unique surgical plan based on your individual concerns and goals before estimating costs. He will be better able to assess your expenses as soon as the type of abdominoplasty has been selected, what technique will be used, what anesthesia is needed, and more. To ensure you get great results from an experienced plastic surgeon, Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa helps to make your tummy tuck easy to afford by taking many payment methods and helping you find low-interest medical financing.

Is a tummy tuck painful?

Patients will be under the effects of anesthesia during the procedure, so no pain will be felt initially. However, your belly will likely be sore and a bit swollen for about the first week after your surgery. During this time, we usually recommend patients wear a compression garment to aid the healing process.

What type of tummy tuck should I get?

There are three common types of tummy tucks: full, mini, and extended. During your consultation, Dr. Watt will listen to your needs and goals before examining your stomach. Then, he can better decide which tummy tuck will produce your best results. A full tummy tuck is good if you would like to fix loose skin in the upper and lower abdomen, whereas a mini tummy tuck is better if you only have issues below your belly button, such as a "pooch." The extended technique can improve the abdomen as well as the hips and upper thighs.

What will my scars look like?

Incisions for your abdominoplasty will depend on which technique is being used. Dr. Watt makes the smallest incisions possible to minimize scars during all tummy tucks. He also places incisions in less visible areas (in the pubic region or belly button) so a swimsuit or underwear can conceal them. Following your surgery, adhering to your scar care instructions is essential so your incisions heal flat and blend into your natural skin.

Can I get pregnant after a tummy tuck?

While you may get pregnant following an abdominoplasty, it will alter your results. Dr. Watt strongly encourages you to finish building your family before you get a tummy tuck. If you get pregnant following your tummy tuck, a second surgery may be done to refresh your results.

Can I get a tummy tuck with another surgery?

Several patients combine a second surgery with an abdominoplasty to see more dramatic results. At your initial consultation with Dr. Watt, talk to him about all of your desires so a personalized treatment plan may be created to match your goals. You may combine a tummy tuck with a thigh lift for a lower body lift or several areas for body contouring. If you are trying to rejuvenate your whole body after pregnancy or losing a significant amount of weight, you might be a candidate for after weight loss surgery or a mommy makeover.
