What Not to Do After Breast Augmentation

If you have been considering breast augmentation, you have probably already done a lot of research into the recovery period and instructions. While there are a lot of things you should do to facilitate recovery and get your desired results, such as keeping all follow-up appointments, there are also some things that you should avoid.

Don’t Lift, Pull, or Push Heavy Objects

During your recovery, it is important not to strain the muscles of your chest and underarms. This means that you will be limited in how much weight you can lift, pull, or push. This may include refraining from pushing full grocery carts or children in strollers. Your surgeon will give you a weight limit that you should stick to until you are completely recovered.

Don’t Sleep on Your Stomach

Sleeping on your stomach won’t really be possible for long periods, even if you try it or wind up rolling over in your sleep. Sleeping on your stomach will cause a significant amount of pain in your breasts. It can also affect your results. It is a good idea to buy body pillows for each side of you so that you can’t roll onto your stomach in your sleep.

Don’t Smoke

It is generally recommended that anyone undergoing surgery should quit smoking for four weeks before the procedure. While this is not always possible with necessary medical procedures, your plastic surgery can be scheduled around your quit date. Smoking during recovery from surgery can decrease your body’s ability to heal.
